Fred Funk

At the age of 48 Fred Funk wrote one of the feel good stories of last year when he captured the Players Championship. We had a chance to talk with Fred about his benchmark year in 2005 and what’s ahead for him in terms of golf. Tune in to hear Fred’s opinions about the game of golf, the Ryder Cup and what he’ll do about the Champions Tour as he turn 50 in June.

» Claimed his first PLAYERS Championship title in 2005.

» Other PGA TOUR victories included the 2004 Southern Farm Bureau Classic, 1998 Deposit Guaranty Golf Classic, 1996 B.C. Open, 1995 Ideon Classic at Pleasant Valley, 1995 Buick Challenge; 1992 Shell Houston Open.

» In 2004, finished in the top 30 (No. 25) on the PGA TOUR money list for the third straight season and went over the $2-million mark for the third consecutive year.

» Golf coach at University of Maryland from 1982 through 1988. Also worked as newspaper circulation supervisor before joining TOUR.

» One of the first TOUR players to have LASIK surgery.

» Turned professional in 1981, joined the PGA TOUR in 1989.

» Currently resides in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.
