South Korea’s Sang-Moon Bae qualifies for Hyundai Tournament of Champions

Kapalua, Maui, Hawaii (October 16, 2014) – With his victory at the Open, the first official event of the 2014-2015 PGA TOUR season, South Korea’s Sang-Moon Bae earned his second career PGA TOUR victory at the age of 28 years, 3 months and 21 days and is now qualified for the 2015 Hyundai Tournament of Champions. The winners-only event returns to The Plantation Course at Kapalua from January 8-12.
With Bae’s victory, a player of Korean-descent in his 20s has now won on the PGA TOUR five times in the last four years: Kevin Na (2011/28 years, 17 days), John Huh (2012/21 years, 9 months, 5 days), Sang-Moon Bae (2013/26 years, 10 months, 29 days), Seung-Yul Noh (2014/22 years, 10 months, 29 days) and Sang-Moon Bae (2014/28 years, 3 months, 21 days).
Bae’s win is the 15th on the PGA TOUR by a player of Korean-descent: K.J. Choi (8), Sang-Moon Bae (2), Y.E. Yang (2), Kevin Na (1), John Huh (1) and Seung-Yul Noh (1).

Players only have six more chances to qualify for the exclusive field by winning one of the remaining events on the PGA TOUR schedule in the 2014 calendar year. The tournaments remaining are:

OCT 23 – 26                       The McGladrey Classic
OCT 30 – NOV 2                CIMB Classic
NOV 6 – 9                          Sanderson Farms Championship
NOV 6 - 9                           World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions
NOV 13 - 16                       OHL Classic at Mayakoba

The Hyundai Tournament of Champions Official Pro-Am is taking place from January 7-8, and is the only Pro-Am on the PGA TOUR that guarantees participants will be paired with a tournament winner.
