Dufner, Johnson, Mahan, Snedeker commit to Hyundai Tournament of Champions

Hyundai Tournament of Champions commitments arrive from group of 2012’s multi-tournament winners
Dufner, Johnson, Mahan, Snedeker commit to tee it up at Kapalua

Kapalua, Maui, Hawaii (December 18, 2012) – Brandt Snedeker, 2012 FedExCup winner, is one of four players with multiple PGA TOUR wins in 2012 who has recently committed to play at the 2013 Hyundai Tournament of Champions at The Plantation Course at Kapalua,  January 3-7, 2013.

“We’re thrilled to announce Jason Dufner, Zach Johnson, Hunter Mahan and Brandt Snedeker will compete in the 2013 Hyundai Tournament of Champions,” said Executive Director Nancy Cross. “All four players are great additions to the Hyundai Tournament of Champions field and will bring excitement to Kapalua as we kickoff the 2013 FedExCup season on the PGA TOUR.”

Brandt Snedeker finished the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola with weekend rounds of 64-68 to hold off Englishmen Justin Rose and Luke Donald for his second victory of the 2012 season and more importantly to win the FedExCup. The 2007 PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year began the 2012 FedExCup Playoffs ranked No. 19 after a solid Regular Season, which included his dramatic playoff victory over Kyle Stanley at the Farmers Insurance Open.  There, Snedeker made up a seven-shot deficit for the win. Snedeker will be playing at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions for the second time.

Jason Dufner’s two PGA TOUR victories in 2012 (Zurich Classic of New Orleans, HP Byron Nelson Championship secured a trip to the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola and also helped move Dufner into the top 10 in the Official World Golf Ranking. Dufner, who will be playing in the Hyundai Tournament of Champions for the first time, had eight top-10 finishes in 2012.

Hunter Mahan played as well, if not better, than anyone to start the year in 2012, with victories at the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship, including a finals win over Rory MciLroy, and the Shell Houston Open. Mahan is playing at Kapalua for the third time in his career with his best finish (T5) coming in 2008.

Zach Johnson followed a runner-up at the RBC Heritage, with a T2 at THE PLAYERS Championship and then a win the following week at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial. He later picked up his second win of the season in a playoff over Troy Matteson at the John Deere Classic. Johnson will play in the Hyundai Tournament of Champions for sixth time in his career, with his only top-10 finish (T6) coming in 2008.
