HUALALAI RESORT SITE OF THE MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC CHAMPIONSHIP AT HUALALAI, JANUARY 19-25, 2009

Elite Field Features PGA Champions Tour Winners

Ka'upulehu, Big Island of Hawai'i (November 10, 2008) — Hualalai Resort will be the site of the season-opening Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai, featuring official money-event winners from the 2007 and 2008 Champions Tour. The tournament, formerly the MasterCard Championship, has been held on Hualalai Resort's Jack Nicklaus Signature Course since 1997. The Golf Channel will broadcast all three rounds.

"We're thrilled about the PGA Tour's partnership with Mitsubishi Electric and look forward to kicking off the Champions Tour season here at Hualalai," said Patrick Fitzgerald, President and Chief Executive Officer, Hualalai Investors, LLC. "The professionals and their families have become a wonderful part of our Hualalai 'ohana - we can't think of a better way to begin the New Year."

The 2009 Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai will feature tournament champions from the past two seasons and senior major championship winners from the past five years. Headliners include defending champion Fred Funk, Champions Tour leading money winner Bernhard Langer, and fan favorites Jay Haas, Hale Irwin, Tom Kite and Peter Jacobsen.

Hualalai's Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, one of two incomparable golf experiences at the resort, is Nicklaus' first Hawai'i design. The par-72 layout weaves through the Big Island's challenging lavascape, taking full advantage of spectacular ocean views and dramatic shoreline vistas. Considered among the most elite golf resorts in the world, Hualalai Resort is also home to a private members-only Tom Weiskopf design, the Ke'olu course.

Since 1997, the Champions Tour has had a significant charitable impact on the local community. To date, nearly $500,000 has been donated to various charity organizations including Big Island Junior Golf programs, the Rotary Club of Kona and the Kona Community Hospital.
