Kapalua, Maui, Hawaii (April 2, 2012) – Representatives from the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, the PGA TOUR and Hyundai Motor America gathered at a reception today to celebrate the charitable donations from the 2012 tournament proceeds. More than $277,000 will be distributed to a number of local Maui charities, benefiting a variety of well-deserving organizations. Since the tournament’s inception in 1999, the tournament and its host organizations have donated more than $4 million to Maui Community Charities.

The six primary tournament beneficiaries from the 2012 event are Boy Scouts of America – Maui County Council, Friends of the Childrens Justice Center, Hale Makua Health Services, J. Walter Cameron Center, Ka Lima O Maui and Lahainaluna High School Foundation. These designated beneficiaries partner with the tournament and assist in promoting the event, offsetting costs, providing volunteers and much more. The Hawaii State Junior Golf Association also received a significant donation for their work in promoting and providing opportunities to grow the game of golf for Hawaii’s youth.
