GOLF on Maui & Lanaʻi is the stuff that dreams are made of… this is golf in paradise … with a myriad of world class courses located on cliff’s overlooking the blue Pacific, draped along the foothills of the West Maui Mountains, perched above a marine life conservation district and poised on the slopes of a dormant volcano. The views are certain to astound you and so will the conditions and playability of these courses.

It all began back in the 1960’s when the Royal Kaʻanapali Course opened at the Kaʻanapali Resort on West Maui. The Royal Kaʻanapali is a true classic designed by the legendary architect Robert Trent Jones SR and has hosted numerous big events on both the LPGA and Champions Tour. The sister course, the Kaʻanapali Kai, offers a wonderful complement to the more difficult tournament course and you can enjoy spectacular sights of the coastline and the islands of Lanaʻi and Molokaʻi from the Kaʻanapali Kai’s higher elevations.

Wailea is the only resort in Hawaiʻi with 54 holes of golf, located on Maui’s sunny south shore. Each of Wailea Golf Club’s three 18-hole layouts offers a unique experience. The Blue Course is Wailea’s original having been designed by architect Arthur Jack Snyder and opened back in the 1970’s. The Emerald and Gold Courses play out of a mutual clubhouse just down the road from the Blue. Both courses were created by Architect Robert Trent Jones Jr. The Emerald Course at Wailea is very user friendly and is characterized by its lush landscaping and sprawling bunkers. Wailea’s Gold Course is gloriously beautiful along with being a wonderful test of golf. The Gold is Wailea’s true championship course and for a number of years was host to the Wendy’s Champions Skins Game.


The Bay Course is Kapalua’s original and was opened in 1975. Designed by Arnold Palmer and Francis Duane the Bay Course with its multiple teeing areas, generous fairways and friendly greens can be set up for golfers of all skill levels to enjoy or to test the best golfers in the world. The Plantation Course is the signature of Kapalua Golf. The Bill Coore / Ben Crenshaw design is massive; sprawling over some 700 acres. The features are also big… with super wide fairways, some as much as 80 yards and extremely large and undulating greens. The dramatic elevation changes on the Plantation Course add to the challenge but more importantly allows for spectacular views of the blue Pacific and the neighboring islands from every part of the course.

In central Maui minutes from Kahului you’ll find two courses situated along the foothills of the West Maui Mountains affording spectacular bi-coastal and Mt. Haleakala views. The King Kamehameha Golf Club is Maui’s only private 18-hole golf course, designed by Ted Robinson in 1991. The King Kamehameha Golf Club is a pure golf experience with no surrounding homes and features the 74,000 sf Frank Lloyd Wright designed clubhouse. The Kahili Golf Course designed by Robin Nelson and Rodney Wright in 1991 is the companion to The King Kamehameha Golf Club provides a worthy test of golf and may be Maui’s best golf value.

Lanaʻi Golf’s Manele Course is a Jack Nicklaus Signature Course that opened in 1993 and features ocean views from every hole as well as supreme shot values. Only 9 miles across the channel from Maui, it's just a short ferry ride to a once in a lifetime golf experience for a great escape.
